Pastor Denny scoops a glass of dirty water from the local stream. This is a water source for an entire community. One family we met with walks 5 hours round trip (up to twice a day) to collect water for their family. In this same stream they water their livestock, they wash their clothes, they bathe and drink. Look at the water in Denny's cup - would you drink that? Notice in the picture below, this boy drinks right out from the stream. Click on his picture to enlarge it. Take a look at that water - see the brown dirt and the green algae in the pool right in front of him. Think of the germs and bacteria that he is consuming in each sip. Think of the consequences it can have on young immune systems. Think of walking up to 10 hours a day to collect the water. It doesn't have to be this way. When you sponsor a child with World Vision you provide not only for that child and their needs but you also help provide clean water and sanitation for an entire community. I look forward to going back to this community in the next year or so and to see them lining up at a new well to collect clean, safe drinking water. All it takes is $35 a month. Will you be a part of the solution? Click the link on the top right of this page to sponsor a child from this community.
