It takes Xena about five hours round trip to fetch water and she usually makes the trip twice a day> When she does arrive she finds animals drinking, people bathing and washing clothes and in many cases they are doing this upstream of where they draw their drinking water. Can you imagine walking 10 hours a day to fetch water? Think of the lost productivity.
